It looks great.

Also a good heads up for Ann Traves - I'm not familiar with her work.Salman Hameedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04327330113822656571noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38085367.post-41496742589601548502008-02-22T10:35:00.000-05:002008-02-22T10:35:00.000-05:00I just finished a master's thesis about this topic...I just finished a master's thesis about this topic, dealing with the religious and anti-religious assumptions and motivations behind such attempts to "biologize" religion. It is available as a .pdf from my website.

Among the major players among the "cognitivists" (of which Justin Barrett is one), the one I find most compelling and satisfying is Scott Atran, a cognitive anthropologist. Lately he's been doing a lot of work on terrorism.

Also, keep an eye out for Ann Taves, my adviser who is a historian extremely sympathetic to the cognitivists. She also just became Vice President of the American Academy of Religion and is trying to make empirical methods more welcome there.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03624561841951020857noreply@blogger.com
